Decision Courses

DecisionSet® offers four courses for law firms and insurers, each course focusing on a specific aspect of legal decision making and problem solving. These courses are usually presented in this sequence:

  • Decision Errors and Costs

  • Malpractice and Ethical Implications of Decision Errors

  • Causes and Correlates of Decision Error

  • Decision Making Expertise

In these courses, decision makers learn about the incidence and magnitude of settlement decision errors, the factors correlated with poor quality decisions and adverse trial outcomes, the circumstances in which poor judgment may lead to malpractice claims or disciplinary proceedings, and the methods they can employ to improve their decision making and problem solving skills.

The time required for each course is two hours; attorneys and insurers requesting more intensive courses spend up to four hours on each course. Some law firms and insurers request only the improvements course (Decision Making Expertise).
